VEDAFEU C© fire cords, the most comprehensive range on the market
Depending on its diameter, VEDAFEU C© firestop ropes (or fire rated backer rod) has a specific density that makes it flexible and easy to compress. They are identified by exclusive markings. This unique marking ensures that the fire-stop seal installed is the one specified.
Official fire retardant rope classifications
Our fire rated rope has been tested and approved by official laboratories, along with its accessories (VEDACOLLE© adhesive and linking material).
The results of our test report are available on the technical data sheet. You will find the following results:
- Compressibility,
- Airtightness,
- Thermal properties,
- Acoustic properties.
Several classification reports (between concrete slabs) for horizontal and vertical joints are available on request.
Composition of VEDAFEU C© fire retardant rope
Our building fire protection is made of non-combustible, rot-proof mineral fibers embedded in a glass-fiber mesh. It is resistant to water, humidity, most aggressive chemicals and micro-organisms.
The dire cord VEDAFEU C© is packaged in rolls for openings from 10 to 70 mm, and in bags of 2 x 2-ml lengths for openings from 80 to 120 mm.
Firestop system application
- For fireproofing all types of horizontal and vertical joints: floor, wall and ceiling joints,
- For sealing joints at the head-of-wall: fire-stop treatment between floor and curtain wall,
For installation of the fire retardant rope, installation instructions are available on request. Installation is quick and easy. A single fire cord is required in the expansion joint, except in special cases such as nuclear power plants. An installation sheet is available on request for this particular application.
This fire rated rope can be used in all types of buildings: hospitals, industrial and office buildings, homes, hotels, shopping malls, parking lots, schools, colleges, stations, airports, stadiums, etc.
Waterproofing and fire protection
Expansion joints in floors, walls and ceilings may require additional protection. Waterproofing can be achieved by filling the upper part of the joint with an elastomer mastic (VEDAFLEX SIL©), or by using a waterproofing membrane (VED’EPDM© Membrane). A joint cover (e.g. JDH 6.12, JDH 5.02 or CJE-PF) or a flexible profile can also be used to close the expansion joint.
Be sure to protect the fire retardant rope during the construction phase if the joint cover is not installed immediately.
