What is an expansion joint cover?

Covering an expansion joint with a joint cover helps to:

• protect it from small debris (small pebbles, cigarette butts, etc.), so as not to interfere with its proper functioning,
• hide this empty space to make the surface more aesthetically pleasing,
• make the building fireproof or watertight.

The joint cover is installed over the entire height of the building, whether on the floor, wall, facade, ceiling or roof. It allows the structure to move freely and prevents possible deformation.

Our CJV raw aluminum expansion joint cover is fastened to walls, facades and ceilings with 4.5×50 stainless steel screws and nylon dowels. Other finishes are available on request. For special configurations, we can suggest to glue the construcion expansion joint cover with our MS adhesive. This aluminium expansion joint cover is suitable for openings up to 120 mm.

How to hide an expansion joint?

Installing the joint cover on an indoor or outdoor wall is quick and easy:

• Verify the initial gap and identify the suitable reference.
• If necessary, remove any material left in the joint (polystyrene, honeycomb cardboard, etc.). Surfaces must be clean and dry.
• Make sure that the edges of the joint are level,
• Draw a line parallel to the joint at 40mm from the edge of the joint.
• Mark the location of the holes with a pencil. If necessary, cut the lengths using a grinder equipped with a metal disc.
• Drill holes,
• Vacuum supports and holes.
• Position the joint cover and fit the 6 nylon dowels and 4.5×50 stainless steel screws.
