CHARACTERISTICS :
The JDV 4.07 expansion joint profile is a flush-mounted solution for a perfect, inconspicuous finish. It consists of two aluminum side plates and an EPDM or TPV (vulcanized thermoplastic) gasket. Thanks to its design, this expansion joint with insert is suitable for both flat and angled applications. For openings greater than 100mm, it features a self-centering bar to ensure that the insert remains in place despite wide product movements. This seismic vertical expansion joint allows movements of +50% / -50%. Several insert colors are available: black, gray, beige. Our JDV 4.07 expansion joint is also suitable for buildings with external insulation. Please consult us for such an application.
To ensure fire and gas tightness, a firestop solution can be added to the expansion joint, such as VEDAFEU N20© blanket for large openings or VEDAFEU C© rope for smaller openings (with +20% movement). A VED’EDPM waterproofing membrane can be applied between the fireproofing product and the aluminium and TPV or EPDM expansion joint to ensure watertightness. Installation instructions are available on request for all three solutions. For tighter budgets, we can also offer the JDV 4.065 seismic vertical expansion joint without self-centering bar. The technical data is available on request.
A seismic expansion joint differs from a standard expansion joint as the former accepts more expansion, contraction, vertical and shear movements.
An expansion joint is sized according to the expected deformations of the building. The origins of movements are varied: concrete shrinkage (fractional joints), internal and external temperatures, structural settlement, movements generated by the environment (wind, rain, planes, trains, etc.), earthquakes. The design office specifies the expected movements of the expansion joint and the number of linear meters expected in the building. In this way, in the event of building movements, the various modules can move independently of each other to avoid damage or even collapse of the structure. Here are a few floor profiles we can suggest to complement our JDV 4.07 seismic vertical expansion joint with EPDM or TPV insert:
Nitrile, TPV or EPDM expansion joints usually allows smaller movements because they are not very extensible, unlike all-metal expansion joints.
